Heel Spur

A tight Achilles tendon may cause a spur to form on the heel bone, or a heel spur. You see, the Achilles tendon connects your calf muscle to the heel bone (calcaneus) at the back of your foot. Haglund’s Deformity

Haglund’s Deformity is a bony outgrowth that develops on the upper back area of the heel bone (calcaneus). Since the enlargement occurs in the area where a high heel shoe rubs against the heel, it is sometimes called a “pump bump.” When the bony enlargement rubs against shoes, the soft tissue near the Achilles tendon becomes irritated. Stress Fracture

Stress fractures are breaks that can develop in the foot over time after repeated injury or stress to the bone. Stress fractures can occur in any of the bones of the lower leg and foot. Sever’s Disease

Sever’s disease (also called calcaneal apophysitis) is the inflammation of the growth plate in the heel. The condition occurs in young people, typically adolescents, whose bones have not fused and fully matured. Sever’s disease is caused by repetitive stress to the heel and is therefore especially common in athletic active children. Read more
