Our bodies do not do well with shock or torque. If not controlled our foot, ankle, knees, hips and back wear out prematurely causing pain and often requiring surgery to correct, like hip and knee replacements. Your shoes are like your car shock absorbers that cushion the blow and preserve all the structures above. It is estimated they provide about 20% of overall relief.

Orthotics keep not only the foot, but the entire lower extremity, in balance – like the foundation on your house. They remove torque, that twisting motion. Orthotics allow for more even wear, even for those those with poor foot structure. They do for the foot what glasses or contacts do for the eyes.

The early (and still made by many) custom orthotics were thick and bulky and could only be worn in athletic-style shoes which greatly limited their use. Newer custom orthotics are computer made, very thin, and versatile. They can be worn in a wide variety of shoes (from dress to casual dress to walking/athletic) without notice. They provide about 80% of the benefit. We also carry “over-the-counter” high heel orthotics which are a godsend for some.
